Admittedly, there are (probably pretend) fucking sounds later on in the parade, but that’s not the one that’s been bothering me for the last 256 hours.
It’s this one:
Audio PlayerThere’s a modulator working on the filter cutoff of what’s probably a highpass filter (the OOO-AAA-OOO-AAA is the giveaway, there) but I’m having an awful time nailing the timbre.
See:
Audio PlayerObviously, they’re very different. The first one is more belchy, and has more low frequency present (although the drums mask most of it.) It also has a little odd-harmonic flavor to it. Like a square wave.
The more I listen to the first one, the more it seems like there are two sounds layered on top of each other, possibly with two different filters affecting them with two different filter envelopes, too. Since they’re all quick little notes it’s hard to hear what happens to the sound over time, but the cutoff seems to close down a little bit right at the end of the snippet.
Audio PlayerCloser, but still wrong. And some horrible clipping, too. Were this any other project, I’d say, “never mind” about now, and move on to something different. But this is starting to get to me. I do seem to have the modulation dialed in, so let’s just listen to the timbre and see if we can get there.
Audio PlayerDo you hate these snippets, yet? I sure do. This one’s been on repeat for about 30 minutes so far with minor tweaks that push it farther away rather than closer most of the time. Hmm.
4 days later…
“Hey, he stopped updating the BREP site. I wonder if he’s okay…”
No. I’m not okay.
But I have made a little progress, creating a Rube Goldberg machine of ancient computers running ancient operating systems in order to run ancient patch editing software. Sort of like this:
Keep with the snippets and the posts! Thank You!
