So, here’s something fun. I was playing around with the original section called “Lame-O” (primarily because it’s a bunch of incoherent noodling around in Rebirth.) Just before HAL’s line, the bass changes completely and runs for about 4 bars. It sounds like this:
For some reason, that line gets stuck in my head a lot. I think it’s because without the hard kick downbeat, the rhythm gets a little ambiguous, which is interesting for your standard EDM 303 part.
Anyway, I’m expanding on that line for the remix, and thought I’d share a little naked snippet. Just some raw material. No drums. One synthesizer part.
Notice how the rhythm starts to come apart briefly at about 0:22?
