A little over eighteen years ago, somebody thought that Gigsville should implement Hurricane Linda’s suggestion of an electric light parade on the playa, a la Disneyland’s Main Street Electrical Parade.
I’m sure the original idea was more about people in El wire and lit up art cars. And, well, parading, but that damn song. I love it. I’ve always loved it.
Back in 1996, Disney announced that the parade “would glow away” forever, and gave it a farewell season. By 1998, they still hadn’t given up on the awful replacement or returned the electrosynthemagnetic masterpiece to its rightful place. So I was going to remix it, Gigsville style, and give it a proper funeral. I announced that I would provide music for the parade. And that’s what I did.
Now that we’re coming up on the 20th anniversary, perhaps it’s time to revisit it. Let’s remix the remix. The tools at my disposal are way more sophisticated than what I had in ’98, but we’ll get into that later. And I thought it might be fun to document it, too.
Thanks you for this then! And so excited for what’s next!
I’ll never forget a morning where we had road trip sleep deep and Caution and I playing this loud and dancing around the sleeping people because it was time to get up and get back in the damn van!
🙂
